Liberia, home to one of West Africa’s richest ecosystems, faces a mounting environmental crisis that threatens its endangered species, water systems, and biodiversity.
Endangered Species at Risk
Liberia is home to rare wildlife like the Liberian Pygmy Hippo, a shy, forest-dwelling species found in Liberia and Liberia – Sierra Leone Boarder zones. It plays a vital role in maintaining healthy forest ecosystems. Other endangered species include forest elephants, chimpanzees, and rare birds—all threatened by deforestation and poaching.
